Owner stories

People are already living the version of this you’re imagining

Why owner stories

The best proof isn’t us telling you it works — it’s owners who’ve lived it for years.

Here are some of them, in their own words — taken from their Google reviews and left exactly as they were written, including the bits that are less polished than a marketing line would be. The photographs are the owners’ own homes, on their own blocks.

In their own words

Nine owners, nine different reasons.

Full-time, eighteen months in Permanence & liveability

“We’ve been living full-time in our house from Micro Homes Group for a year and a half now, and we couldn’t be happier! From the very beginning, Hayden and his team were fantastic… We also made the best decision going with MicroHomes Group as they offer the wider 3.2 meter width over a standard 2.4 meter Tiny House. This extra space has made a HUGE difference in how comfortable and liveable our home feels and functions… having the house on a chassis system that keeps us off wheels and not feeling like we’re on a trailer is a major plus. Plus, the flushable toilet is a game-changer — something you won’t find with most Tiny House builders!”

Daniel Kloppenborg · MicroHomes owner

The question underneath almost every enquiry is whether anyone actually lives in one of these permanently. This is a year and a half of ordinary Tuesdays — and the width, the chassis and the real toilet are the three things the owner picks out unprompted.

A country dream, off-grid Off-grid & the process

“Hayden and the team at Microhomes helped us to finally realise our country dream. The process was easy and everything was taken care of, from design to transport, to installation and setup… Microhomes’ expertise in building homes that are suited to the Australian conditions and regulations made it easy to feel relaxed and enjoy the process of creating a well appointed and comfortable home. We love the result and are so glad we made the decision to go with Microhomes.”

Heather James · MicroHomes owner

A tree-change onto a block with no services is where the process itself is the risk — design, transport, siting and setup all have to land. This is an owner reporting that they didn’t have to hold it together themselves.

A steep, muddy block Delivery onto a hard site

“MicroHomes built and delivered the unit on time and on budget. Our site was challenging as it was steep and muddy, but they installed it perfectly. The unit was very well built with quality fit out inside. I highly recommend MicroHomes, a trustworthy supplier.”

Mike McAuley · MicroHomes owner

The sites people worry about are the ones with a slope, a narrow gate or a wet winter. A 3.2m-wide home is harder to place than a narrow one, which is exactly why the delivery problem is ours to solve rather than yours to discover on the day.

An eight-metre studio, tight access On budget, on time

“I can sincerely recommend MicroHome groups who built our beautiful 8 metre studio. Hayden was a pleasure to deal with, always attentive and the home was delivered on budget and within the stated time frame. In addition, a tight installation location proved no issue.”

Fixed price and a stated date are easy things to advertise and hard things to hold. This is one owner reporting that both held, on a site with no room to spare.

Finishes that last Build quality & service

“We met Hayden and Rob after seeing a number of different small home groups… Amazing commercial quality finishes that would last, a prioritisation of function over gimic and a confidence in their product including several unique solutions created from their own ingenuity. Our Microhome is warm, modern and works… Just recently Hayden was up to take some photos of our place and he spent the next 2 hours resolving an issue we weren’t even aware of. That’s the sort of quality of service he provides.”

Matthew Costa · MicroHomes owner · Google Local Guide

This is a buyer who shopped the category first and came back to it. The detail that carries it is the two hours spent fixing something the owner hadn’t even noticed — service after the invoice, which is the part you can’t check before you buy.

Designed around the block Custom design & install

“MicroHomes Group have exceeded our expectations. Hayden and his team have made the whole experience wonderful, with a no-problem attitude they custom designed, built, delivered and installed with millimetre accuracy a beautiful, functional and comfortable Micro Home. These guys are next level, with a product that leaves the tiny-home option in the dust… They have practical solutions to the tiny-living world and amazing ongoing support. Do yourself a favour and check them out.”

Mick Sander · MicroHomes owner · Google Local Guide

No two blocks are the same, so no two homes are. What that means in practice is a design conversation before anything is built, rather than picking a model off a page and hoping it suits the site.

Roomy, and no nasty surprises Liveability & safety

“Hayden was great to deal with from start to finish. I would not hesitate to recommend him personally as a business person, and I definitely recommend the Micro Homes. More roomy and spacious, well set out, no hidden dangers like stairs that don’t have adequate safety. Big shower area. Real toilet. We are very happy with our purchase.”

Mel Gold · MicroHomes owner · Google Local Guide

The things a lot of tiny homes trade away to save space — a safe way up, a shower you can turn around in, a real toilet — are the things this owner names as the reason to be happy. Room is what makes them possible.

On the 3.2-metre width Liveability

“Hayden’s a great guy and nothing ever a trouble. Micro home layout is superb, the 3.2 metre depth makes all of the difference. Very well insulated, quiet and enjoyable to live in. Thanks!”

Mike Stroh · MicroHomes owner

The width is a number on a spec sheet until someone who lives inside it tells you what it changed. “Makes all of the difference” is about as plainly as an owner can put it.

A pre-owned two-bedroom Honesty & grit

“My name is Geoff, I am the one that brought the pre owned 2 bedroom micro home. I am very happy with the micro home having no complaints at all. I like the hot shower and the induction cooktop and double glazed window and door — there is plenty of room for me. The truck and larger section of micro home got bogged; Hayden and Dave worked for many hours on it without getting upset even though they were tired. Hayden and his team are hard working and strive for the best result, honest and dedicated.”

Geoffrey Foote · MicroHomes owner

Nobody chooses their favourite story to be the one where the truck got bogged. That it’s here, in the owner’s own words, is the point — including the part where the delivery got hard and the team stayed calm and stayed late.

These are real Google reviews from MicroHomes owners, reproduced with their homes’ own photos. Read them on Google and you’ll find the same words there.

What they have in common

They talk about the life, not the spec sheet.

Read them together and the pattern is hard to miss. Owners talk about the site everyone said was too hard, the date that held, the room to move past each other in the kitchen, the shower you can turn around in. The engineering is what makes those things possible — and it’s mostly not what they remember.

Which is roughly the order we try to talk about it in too.
